The Art Spirit - This book, edited by Margery A. Ryerson, has been my traveling companion for a while now.  This book holds the teachings of legendary art instructor and artist Robert Henri. His influence resounds in many contemporary artist's instruction in video or book form today. Click on the link to visit his house museum in Cozad, Nebraska.

Alla Prima Everything I know About Painting -This book, written by Richard Schmid, is in my estimation one of the best art instruction books ever written.  It tackles the problems artists come across everyday when they sit down before their easels. This book is worth its weight in gold as it helped me in getting to the next levels in my own artistic development.
